Boeing Marks Milestone in 737 MAX Landing Gear Exchange Program
Boeing has completed its first landing gear exchange for a 737 MAX aircraft, marking a milestone in the company's Landing Gear Exchange Program.
The program allows airlines to exchange landing gear assemblies instead of conducting in-place overhauls or maintaining spare inventory.
William Ampofo, senior vice president of Parts & Distribution and Supply Chain at Boeing Global Services, said that this extension of the capability to the 737 MAX fleet will benefit operators by reducing aircraft downtime during landing gear maintenance.
The exchange process involves technical overhaul, incorporation of applicable service bulletins, certification, and delivery coordination, with Boeing managing the overhaul work and certification requirements.
