Boeing Offers 10% Raise to WA Workers Amid Potential Strike
Boeing has made a final contract offer to its engineers and technicians in Washington state, attempting to head off a potential union strike. The proposed agreement covers over 16,000 employees, primarily based in the Puget Sound region.
The union's bargaining committee is recommending that members approve the deal, which includes a 10% guaranteed wage increase following approval of the contract offer and another 4% guaranteed wage increase in March 2027. Other highlights include revised language regarding work-from-home and overtime limits for certain unit members, as well as wage pools of 6% in 2028, 2029, and 2030 with a guaranteed minimum increase of 4% in each year.
The negotiations mark the first full contract negotiation between Boeing and the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) in 14 years. The current labor agreement expires on October 6.
Boeing's vice president, Ben Nimmergut, stated that the company's final offer addresses the top priorities identified by employees and SPEEA's bargaining teams, including an immediate wage increase and larger wage pools with guarantees.
