Boeing Ordered to Pay $29 Million Over 737 MAX Crash

Boeing has been ordered to pay $29 million in damages to the family of Michael Ryan, one of the victims of the Ethiopian Airlines flight ET302 crash in March 2019. The plane, a Boeing 737 MAX, had taken off from Addis Ababa just six minutes before crashing.

Ryan was an engineer for the UN World Food Programme and a father of two who lived in Cork. His widow, Noize Connolly Ryan, filed a lawsuit against Boeing in a US court, which led to the $29 million verdict.

Boeing has expressed its condolences to the families of all those affected by the crashes, noting that most similar lawsuits have been resolved through settlements. However, families retain the right to seek court hearings and compensation.
