Boeing Ordered to Pay $29 Million Over 737 MAX Crash Victim
Boeing has been ordered to pay $29 million in damages to the widow of Michael Ryan, an engineer who lost his life in the 737 MAX crash on March 10, 2019. The Ethiopian Airlines flight ET302 went down just six minutes after takeoff from Addis Ababa, killing all 157 people on board.
Ryan's wife, Noize Connolly Ryan, filed a lawsuit in a U.S. court and won the damages verdict after a civil trial in Chicago. The family's attorney, Stephen S. Marks, said the verdict was an important step towards accountability and justice.
Boeing expressed its condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones in the Lion Air and Ethiopian Airlines crashes. The company noted that most similar lawsuits have been resolved through settlements, but families have the right to seek court hearings.
