Boeing Pays $87 Million to Families of Kenyan 737 MAX Crash Victims

Boeing has agreed to pay $87.3 million in compensation to the families of 32 Kenyan victims who died in the 2019 Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crash.

The payment is part of a larger settlement between Boeing and the US Department of Justice, which was established under a non-prosecution agreement signed in 2025.

The 737 MAX aircraft model, which crashed in both Ethiopia and Indonesia, had its flight control system at the center of investigations into the disaster.

The MCAS system may have played a role in the crashes, leading to Boeing's establishment of a $444.5 million fund for victims' families.
