Boeing Pledges Ksh11 Billion for Kenyan Families Affected by Ethiopian Airlines Crash
Boeing has agreed to pay out Ksh11 billion (USD2.73 million per household) to 32 Kenyan families affected by the 2019 Ethiopian Airlines crash.
The payment is part of a larger Victim Compensation Fund worth Ksh57.5 billion (USD444.5 million), established as part of a deal between Boeing and the US Department of Justice in March 2025.
This latest payout follows an earlier compensation package established after the twin 737 MAX tragedies, which included a Ksh31.2 billion (USD243.6 million) criminal fine, close to Ksh229 billion (USD1.77 billion) paid out to airline customers, and a Ksh65 billion (USD500 million) victim fund.
The total payout for victims now stands near Ksh122.6 billion (USD944.5 million).
