Boeing Reduces Engine Noise on 787 with EcoDemonstrator Tests
Boeing has completed flight tests of its ecoDemonstrator technology program, which aimed to reduce noise levels from engine inlets on a Boeing 787 aircraft.
The tests were conducted with Rolls-Royce at Boeing's Glasgow, Montana facility and built on aerodynamic evaluations of the short inlet conducted by Rolls-Royce on a Boeing 747 in 2022.
Boeing is now assessing noise data from the flight tests to determine the effectiveness of the modified short engine inlet duct.
The ecoDemonstrator program is part of Boeing's efforts to reduce noise pollution and improve fuel efficiency.
