Boeing, Rheinmetall Partner on MQ-28 Ghost Bat Drone for German CCA Program
Boeing and Rheinmetall are teaming up to propose the MQ-28 Ghost Bat drone for Germany's Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) program. The CCA aims to develop capabilities for air-to-ground and air-to-air operations, with a focus on integrating crewed and uncrewed aircraft.
The companies plan to establish system-integration capabilities for the MQ-28 in Germany, including software development and mission integration. Rheinmetall will work on the integration, while Boeing partners with other German companies like Rohde & Schwarz, Diehl Defence, and HENSOLDT to support development and integration activities.
The MQ-28 has already participated in multinational exercises, including Exercise Valiant Shield, and has undergone testing with the Royal Australian Air Force. The aircraft uses a digital twin for development based on flight-test data, and its modular architecture allows for changes to sensors, software, and mission configurations.
