Boeing, RTX Partner with Pentagon on Missile Production Boost
The Department of War has signed two framework agreements with Boeing and RTX to boost production of Standard Missile-3 Block IB and Standard Missile-3 Block IIA components.
The agreements aim to increase the production of ship-fired surface-to-air interceptors that support the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System, which is a core component of US sea-based missile defense.
Under the new frameworks, Boeing will lead component manufacturing for both the SM-3 Block IIA and Block IB missiles. The Department of War's Acquisition Transformation Strategy enabled the agreements by reducing administrative barriers and allowing direct engagement with suppliers across the industrial base.
