Boeing has secured Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification for its 737 MAX 7 aircraft, marking a significant milestone in the company's efforts to regain trust after two fatal crashes.

The FAA issued Boeing an amended type certificate and Production Limitation Record (PLR) for the 737-7, which was first launched with Southwest Airlines in 2013. However, the certification process was delayed due to various issues, including the grounding of the entire MAX fleet in 2020.

According to Boeing, the 737-7 has completed over 1,000 hours of flight and ground evaluation, as well as extensive system safety analysis and human factors reviews. The FAA also required Boeing to incorporate key improvements, such as updates to the flight-control software, flightcrew alerting system, and redesigned engine anti-ice system.

Southwest Airlines, which has ordered 250 jets, expressed its satisfaction with the certification and plans to introduce the aircraft in 2027. Other airlines that have placed orders for the 737-7 include Ruili Airlines, SkyUp Airlines, Jhonlin Air Transport, Luxair, and Turkmenistan Airlines.
