Boeing Sees Mixed Results in August Deliveries

Boeing's August deliveries showed a mixed picture, with some positive signs and a notable dip in one of its key models. The company handed over 51 planes in August, with 41 being 737 MAXs, a number that matches the previous months' totals.

The delivery count for the 787 Dreamliner saw a sharp decline, however, dropping to just four aircraft last month from the 10 delivered in July and 13 in June. This marks Boeing's second-lowest number of 787 deliveries this year, with only three planes being handed over in February.

Boeing's total deliveries for August nearly match the 53 planes it delivered in July but are lower than the 64 delivered in June. The company has reported its highest delivery total at this point in the year since 2018, with a cumulative total of 418 airplanes from January to the end of August.

Boeing's commercial backlog shrank slightly from 6,192 at the end of July to 6,156 at the end of August. The company recorded 15 gross orders last month, including two for the 737 MAX and 13 for the 787 Dreamliner, but had no cancellations or net changes in its order book.

For comparison, Boeing's European rival Airbus delivered 57 planes in August and booked 67 gross orders, according to its own reports.
