Boeing Sees Slight Dip in Jet Deliveries Amid Expectations for 787 Recovery
Boeing reported a slight dip in jet deliveries for August, handing over only 51 aircraft to customers. This is down from the previous month and also lower than the 57 jets delivered during the same period last year. The decrease was mainly due to fewer 787 Dreamliners being handed over, with just four delivered this August compared to nine in August of the previous year.
The company still expects to meet its target of delivering between 90 and 100 787s by the end of the year, a crucial milestone for Boeing's financial turnaround. The spokesperson emphasized that there were no production or supply chain issues contributing to the decline in deliveries. However, increasing output of the highly profitable twin-aisle jet is vital for Boeing's success.
The August numbers also included 41 deliveries of the popular 737 MAX plane, with nine handed over to Southwest Airlines, eight to United Airlines, and five to lessor AerCap. Through August, Boeing has delivered a total of 418 aircraft, its highest number since 2018 when it delivered 481 jets during the same period.
