Boeing Sells Autonomous Subsidiaries to Archer Aviation
Archer Aviation has made a significant move in the aviation industry by acquiring three key autonomy and uncrewed systems subsidiaries from Boeing, Wisk Aero, Insitu, and SkyGrid.
The acquisition is a major turning point for both companies, with Archer gaining its first profitable defense operation and Boeing securing a 19.75% ownership stake alongside a board seat in the company.
The transaction occurred exactly three years after Wisk and Archer settled a high-profile trade secrets lawsuit filed by Wisk against Archer in 2021.
Under the terms of the deal, Boeing will maintain cross-licensing rights to core autonomous technologies, allowing the manufacturer to leverage advanced flight systems across its own commercial and defense programs.
