Boeing Sells Tech Ventures for Stake in Air Taxi Startup Archer Aviation
Boeing has agreed to divest its technology ventures to Archer Aviation in exchange for a stake in the startup. The deal sees Boeing transfer control of Wisk autonomous aircraft venture and SkyGrid and Insitu businesses to Archer, with the potential stake increasing up to 20 percent through additional stock purchases.
Archer aims to revolutionize transportation by building air taxis that can travel from New York City to airports in under 15 minutes. The company is also targeting the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics as a showcase opportunity for its technology, with Archer purchasing Hawthorne Airport in November 2025 for $126 million.
The collaboration and technology-sharing agreement between Boeing and Archer will allow Archer to bring new products to market more quickly. Archer CEO Adam Goldstein described the deal as 'a watershed moment' for the company.
