Boeing Slapped With $3.1M Fine Over Safety Lapses at Facilities
Boeing has paid a $3.1 million fine to the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) over safety lapses at its facilities, including interference with safety officials and presenting aircraft not deemed airworthy for approval.
The latest penalty follows a series of safety concerns raised by the FAA over Boeing's manufacturing processes, including hundreds of quality-system violations found in 2024 at the company's 737 factory in Renton, Washington, and at the 737 fuselage facility operated by then-subcontractor Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, Kansas.
The incidents have drawn criticism from Democratic US Senator Richard Blumenthal, who said such a penalty was too small to act as a meaningful deterrent. He had previously investigated Boeing's safety record.
