Boeing Slapped with $3.1M Fine Over Safety Violations

A $3.1 million fine has been imposed on Boeing by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for safety violations.

The penalty, paid in January 2026, relates to a series of incidents at Boeing's facilities, including its Renton, Washington factory and the Spirit AeroSystems plant in Wichita, Kansas.

The FAA found that Boeing had interfered with the independence of safety officials and presented two unairworthy aircraft for approval. Additionally, an employee pressured a colleague to sign off on a 737 MAX despite it not meeting regulatory standards.

Democratic US Senator Richard Blumenthal has criticized the fine as inadequate, saying it is 'easily absorbed' by Boeing.
