Boeing Stalls on Technical Data for T-7A Red Hawk Trainer

The T-7A Red Hawk, a Boeing-designed jet trainer, was intended to replace the aging T-38 Talon and modernize pilot training for the US Air Force. However, a recent investigation by Rompiendo la defensa has revealed that the program is being hindered by a dispute over technical data.

The investigation found that Boeing has failed to deliver the required documentation for intermediate- and depot-level maintenance, despite an explicit contractual obligation to do so. This lack of data has put the Air Force in a difficult position, as they face either paying Boeing to handle all major maintenance indefinitely or spending years and hundreds of millions of dollars reverse-engineering the information.

The dispute has also raised safety concerns, with an internal Air Force assessment projecting a 'serious' airworthiness risk for the first 82 production T-7As due to missing technical data. The investigation suggests that Boeing's failure to provide this data could add up to $1.5 billion in costs and delay depot-level maintenance by years.
