Boeing Submits Deal to SPEEA Amid Ongoing Contract Negotiations

Boeing has submitted a deal to the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA), a major engineering union representing around 13,000 engineers and scientists, as well as roughly 4,000 technicians, analysts, and planners who work for Boeing. The proposal aims to allow SPEEA members to continue working on Boeing's engineering projects past the expiration of its current contract on October 6.

The deal has been endorsed by SPEEA's negotiating team, which says it offers 'real and meaningful value' to the membership, delivering positive change to work-life balance and addressing member priorities. The proposal will now be reviewed by SPEEA's Bargaining Unit Councils (BUCs), which represent the union's engineering and technical branches.

The BUCs are expected to make a recommendation to the respective branches next week in August, before members vote on whether to accept the proposals. If approved, this could potentially speed up the development of Boeing's new jets, including the 737 MAX 10 and 777-9.
