Boeing Surpasses Airbus in Widebody Sales with 62% Market Share
Boeing's widebody sales have surpassed Airbus', once again relegating the European OEM to second place. The market share shift was marked by a significant gap in backlog numbers, with Boeing holding a 62% share compared to Airbus' 38% as of July 31.
The data, provided by both companies, highlights the growth of Boeing's widebody family. With more members than Airbus', including variants such as the Boeing 787 IGWs and KC-46A refueling tanker, the American company has managed to maintain a lead in sales.
It wasn't always this way. In the past, when Boeing faced difficulties with its 787 program from 2007-2015, Airbus boasted of selling more A330s after the Dreamliner's launch than before. However, those days are now behind them, and it seems that Boeing has solidified its position in the market.
