Boeing Sweetens Offer to White-Collar Union Amid Strike Threat
Boeing has made another attempt to negotiate a contract with its white-collar engineering and technicians union, offering a second deal in an effort to avoid a costly strike. The offer comes after union members rejected the company's first proposal in August.
The new deal includes a 10% guaranteed wage increase effective October 16, as well as a 4% guarantee for 2027 and 6% annual increases to wage pools. These pools will be divided among the workforce based on inflation and performance metrics, with a 4% guarantee for all members each year.
The union's negotiating team recommended that members accept the proposal, which they said addresses remote work and other workplace concerns raised during negotiations. However, union members had previously rejected the company's first offer, citing a lack of guaranteed wage increases.
A vote on whether to adopt the new deal will be held in coming weeks, but no date has been set. The contract negotiations involve about 17,000 workers in Boeing's Washington facilities and nearby states.
