Boeing Sweetens Offer to White-Collar Union Amid Strike Threat
Boeing has made another attempt to avoid a costly strike by offering its white-collar engineering and technicians union a new contract. The company's second offer comes after union members rejected the first one in August, when they voted down a deal that would have increased their average base salary by $45,000 over four years.
The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA), which represents around 17,000 workers in Boeing's Washington facilities and nearby states, had expressed concerns about the first offer's lack of guaranteed wage increases. The new proposal includes a 10% guaranteed pay increase effective October 16, as well as a 4% guaranteed raise in 2027 and then 6% annual increases to wage pools.
SPEEA's negotiating team described the offer as 'much improved' from the previous one and recommended that members accept it. However, union leaders will still need to vote on whether to adopt the proposal, which could happen in coming weeks.
