Boeing Takes a Hit in July Deliveries Amid Competition from Airbus

Boeing's July delivery numbers have taken a hit, as the company handed over 53 jets to customers. This is a decline of 17% from June, when Boeing delivered 64 aircraft.

The Seattle-based planemaker trailed its European rival Airbus in July, with Airbus delivering 67 planes. Boeing's deliveries this month included 39 of its best-selling 737 MAX jets and 10 787s, as well as one 777 freighter and three 767s.

Despite the drop in deliveries, Boeing was able to book 30 new orders after adjusting for cancellations. This includes a handful of orders announced during the Farnborough Airshow. Through July, Boeing has delivered 367 jets this year, including 279 737 MAX and 50 787 jets.

Boeing's biggest order announcement at Farnborough was for 100 737 MAX jets from Irish leasing giant SMBC Aviation, although this order was actually booked in June by an unidentified customer. Through July, Boeing has booked more than 130 orders for the 737-10, the largest MAX variant.
