Boeing Teams Up with DoW and Raytheon on Seven-Year SM-3 Production Boost

Boeing has signed seven-year framework agreements with the US Department of War (DoW) and Raytheon, an RTX business, to increase production of avionics and ejector assemblies for the Standard Missile-3.

The SM-3 is a sea-based interceptor designed to hit missile threats outside the atmosphere. The output rise will be on hardware for the SM-3 Block IB and Block IIA variants.

Boeing, the DoW and prime contractor Raytheon will ramp up production ahead of contract negotiations while they finalize a multi-year award under the frameworks.

This move follows a similar structure Boeing agreed with the DoW and Lockheed Martin LMT to increase output of PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement seekers. According to Bob Ciesla, vice president of Boeing Precision Engagement Systems, 'This gives us a clear demand signal to build and deliver SM-3 interceptors.'
