Boeing to Pay $944.5 Million in Compensation for 737 MAX Crashes
Boeing has agreed to pay US$944.5 million in criminal compensation to the families of victims who died in the two crashes of its 737 MAX 8 aircraft, Lion Air Flight 610 and Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302.
The compensation is part of a non-prosecution agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice, which also includes penalties, airline compensation, and compliance investments totaling around US$3.64 billion.
The crashes killed a total of 346 people in October 2018 and March 2019, respectively. Investigations linked both crashes to Boeing's MCAS flight-control system.
Ribbeck Law Chartered represented the families of the victims and coordinated claims across more than 35 countries where the victims resided.
