Boeing to Pay Kenyan Families $87.3M Over Fatal Ethiopian Airlines Crash

Nearly seven years after Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crashed near Bishoftu, Ethiopia, killing all 157 people on board, 32 Kenyan families are set to receive compensation from Boeing-linked victim funds.

The families will receive a combined $87.3M, approximately KSh11.3B, following the conclusion of legal proceedings in the United States. This allocation averages roughly $2.73M per victim and draws from two separate compensation mechanisms established under Boeing's agreements with the US Department of Justice.

Boeing faced liability for its role in both crashes, which involved the 737 MAX aircraft and were caused by the MCAS software pushing the nose of the planes downward against pilot inputs.
