Boeing to Pay Kenyan Families of Ethiopian Airlines Crash Victims $87 Million

The families of 32 Kenyans who died in the 2019 Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crash will receive a combined $87.3 million (Ksh.11.3 billion) in compensation from Boeing-linked funds.

This comes after the conclusion of legal proceedings in the US, where Boeing agreed to provide an additional $444.5 million for victims under a 2025 non-prosecution agreement.

The latest fund is to be divided equally among the estates of the 346 people killed in the two crashes, including 32 Kenyans, 18 Canadians, nine Ethiopians, eight Italians, eight Chinese, and eight Americans.

Manuel von Ribbeck of the firm representing the Kenyan families stated that Boeing would begin making final payments following the conclusion of legal proceedings.
