Boeing to Pay Kenyan Families Over $87 Million in Ethiopian Airlines Crash Compensation
Boeing will start making final payments to families of victims from the Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crash, which occurred on March 10, 2019. The compensation funds are linked to agreements with the US Justice Department over two fatal 737 MAX crashes.
The law firm Ribbeck Law Chartered is representing 32 Kenyan families who will receive a combined $87.3 million from Boeing-linked victim compensation funds. This allocation averages about $2.73 million per victim across the compensation funds.
According to Manuel von Ribbeck, Boeing would begin making final payments following the conclusion of legal proceedings in the US. The payments are linked to a 2025 non-prosecution agreement that required Boeing to provide an additional $444.5 million for victims, on top of a $500 million fund established under a 2021 deferred prosecution agreement.
