Boeing, Union Negotiators Set to Resume Contract Talks Amid Stalled Wage Demands
Negotiators from Boeing and its largest white-collar union plan to meet Monday to resume contract discussions, according to SPEEA's spokesman.
The roughly 17,000 members of SPEEA overwhelmingly rejected Boeing's contract offer last week. In a survey conducted by SPEEA, union members prioritized larger and immediate guaranteed wage increases as their top demand, followed by more money for annual performance-based raises and better annual cost-of-living adjustments.
A work stoppage would further delay the certification of Boeing's 737 MAX 10 and 777-9 aircraft, which are several years behind schedule. Boeing declined to comment further, but a spokesman stated that they want to reach an agreement before the current contract expires on October 6.
