Boeing Union Rejects Contract Offer Amid Financial Concerns
Boeing's (BA) largest white-collar union, the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA), has rejected a four-year contract offer from the company. The vote covered about 17,000 Boeing workers across two key groups.
In the Professional Unit, which includes 13,000 engineers and scientists, 64.3% voted to reject the offer, and 87.8% backed a strike. In the Technical Unit, which consists of 4,000 analysts, designers, and specialists, 71.9% voted to reject the deal and 89.7% approved strike action.
The union members opposed the offer due to financial issues, including the inflation cap at 3%, which guarantees that their salaries fall behind. They also expressed mistrust over outsourcing, past job losses, and concerns about Boeing's quality and safety issues.
