Boeing Union Threatens Strike as Contract Talks Resume

Boeing is set to resume contract negotiations with its largest white-collar union, SPEEA, after members overwhelmingly rejected the company's latest proposals. The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace represents around 17,000 Boeing employees, including engineers and technical workers critical to the aerospace giant's aircraft programs.

The union's members voted about 64% against the tentative agreement, while roughly 72% of technical workers rejected their proposal. They also authorized the union's negotiating team to call a strike if an agreement cannot be reached.

Boeing faces growing labor tensions as it works through production, certification, and quality issues across its commercial aircraft business. The company recently began advertising contractor positions for engineering and technical work, which has further escalated tensions with SPEEA.
