Boeing Unveils Ultra-Low-Cost Radar Seeker for Multi-Platform Use
Boeing recently unveiled its Ultra Low-Cost Seeker (ULCS), an active radar seeker designed to provide missile guidance at a lower cost. The company claims that the ULCS can be reused across various weapons, including air and missile defense interceptors, guided bombs, and cruise missiles.
The ULCS is built using commercial parts adapted for military use and is still in development. Boeing has conducted several tests on the seeker, including one where it was mounted on a Beechcraft 1900 and used to track targets over land and water.
According to Bob Ciesla, vice president of Boeing Precision Engagement Systems, the ULCS is designed for strikes from the air, land, or sea, in any weather conditions, and against moving targets. The seeker's modular design allows it to be easily integrated into different weapons systems.
