Boeing Upgrades Chinook Helicopters with Advanced Flight-Control System

Boeing has been awarded a $55.4 million contract by the U.S. Special Operations Command to upgrade the flight-control systems of its MH-47G Block II Chinook helicopters.

The Active Parallel Actuator System (APAS) is designed to reduce pilot workload and improve aircraft handling during demanding missions, particularly in low-altitude and high-risk environments.

Boeing developed APAS in collaboration with BAE Systems and has already begun installing the system on its Chinook production line. The MH-47G Block II will be the first variant to receive APAS as standard equipment.

APAS provides pilots with tactile cues and force feedback, alerting them when the aircraft approaches its operating limits and allowing for more precise control during complex maneuvers.
