Boeing Whistleblower Sam Salehpour Speaks Out Against Company's Safety Shortcuts
Sam Salehpour is a veteran aerospace engineer who has spent over 45 years working in the industry. He joined Boeing as a Quality Engineer in 2007 and was initially impressed by the company's rigorous production process. However, he claims that as the years passed, the leadership changed, and the demand increased, he began noticing shortcuts being taken to meet deadlines and increase profits.
Salehpour alleges that during his work on the 787 Dreamliner planes in late 2020, he observed serious safety issues due to embedded debris and excessive stress on major joints. He claims these defects could significantly reduce the aircraft's lifespan and put lives at risk.
Despite being retaliated against by his managers and higher-ups, Salehpour continued to speak up about the safety concerns he witnessed. He even testified before a Senate Subcommittee in 2024, stating that Boeing is 'putting out defective airplanes' and perpetuating a culture of retaliation.
