Boeing Wins $75 Million Contract to Produce Extended-Range JDAM Munitions

Boeing has received a $75 million contract from the U.S. Air Force to start producing the GBU-75 Joint Direct Attack Munition Long Range (JDAM LR), marking an important milestone for this weapon designed to extend the reach of existing JDAM-equipped aircraft.

The JDAM LR combines a standard guidance package and aircraft interface with a deployable wing kit and compact turbojet engine, allowing it to deliver a 500-lb payload to targets more than 300 nautical miles away.

This increased stand-off range makes the system suitable for land attack, maritime strike, and aerial mining missions. The production award follows nearly $100 million in company-funded development and enables initial production of Payload Delivery Units (PDUs) for the U.S. Navy.

Boeing's design leverages the existing JDAM ecosystem, allowing integration on aircraft already capable of carrying conventional JDAM weapons while leveraging established manufacturing infrastructure and supply chains.
