Boeing Workers Weigh Contract Vote Amid Strike Fears
A vote on Boeing's contract offer for its largest white-collar union is underway and could determine whether the company faces another work stoppage. The proposed four-year contract provides for pay raises tied to inflation, individual employee performance, and other metrics determined by the company.
The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) has been bargaining with Boeing since late July, and a tentative agreement was reached. However, neither of SPEEA's bargaining unit councils endorsed the offer, with the technical workers' council advising union members to reject the contract.
Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg stated that the company began discussions early 'to work toward an agreement that supports our employees and their families, provides greater certainty for our business, and helps us stay focused on the progress we are making.'
