Boeing's 737 Fleet Faces Investigation Over Fuselage Cracks
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued an order for Boeing to investigate hundreds of its 737 jets over fuselage cracks. The directive affects 471 aircraft, including the 737-8, 8-200, and 737-9 models.
The FAA estimates that the issue may lead to a loss of structural integrity in the planes, making them unable to sustain limit loads. Boeing has been working with operators on this issue for over six years, starting with notifications to 737NG aircraft owners in 2019.
The company provided detailed instructions for conducting inspections and extended the probe to its 737 MAX fleet due to design similarities. Boeing supports both directives and continues to work with airline customers to address the issue.
