Boeing's August Deliveries Dip as Dreamliner Handovers Fall

Boeing's August deliveries of commercial jets fell short of expectations as the company handed over only four Dreamliners to customers, down from nine in the same month last year. The decrease was attributed to a slump in production rather than any supply chain or certification issues. According to Boeing, this drop will not impact their target of delivering 90-100 787s by the end of the year.

The company's total deliveries for August stood at 51 jets, down from 57 in the same period last year. This was primarily due to a decline in Dreamliner handovers, which is crucial to Boeing's financial turnaround plans. The production of the highly profitable twin-aisle jet is expected to increase output.

In contrast, European rival Airbus delivered 57 jets and booked 67 orders in August, outperforming Boeing. Boeing, on the other hand, received 15 new orders for unidentified customers, including two 737 MAX planes and 13 Dreamliners. There were no cancellations recorded during this period.

The company's total deliveries of aircraft through August reached 418, surpassing its deliveries in 2018 when it delivered 481 jets within the same timeframe.
