Boeing's eVTOL Assets Fly into Archer Aviation
Flying taxi maker Archer Aviation has made a major acquisition in the eVTOL and AI space. The company is purchasing three businesses from Boeing - Wisk Aero, Insitu, and SkyGrid - for an undisclosed amount of equity. In return, Boeing will take a stake of nearly 20% in Archer.
The transaction remains subject to closing conditions, including the expiration or termination of the waiting period required under US antitrust law. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2026, according to Reuters.
The acquisition brings together Wisk's autonomous eVTOL technology, Insitu's unmanned aircraft systems, and SkyGrid's air traffic management software with Archer's air taxi and artificial intelligence technologies. This creates an end-to-end platform covering aerospace, defense, and air traffic management for Archer.
