Boeing's MAX 10 Delay Pushes Back Delivery Schedule for 27 United Jets
Boeing's ongoing delay in delivering its MAX 10 aircraft has pushed back the delivery schedule of 27 United Airlines jets, with most now set to arrive after 2027. This is according to United's latest filing, which projects that the airline will receive only 20 MAX 10 aircraft by 2027, down from the initial contractual agreement of 47. The delay has added to labor tensions between Boeing and its employees, with nearly 17,000 engineers and technical staff rejecting a four-year contract proposal on Friday.
The rejection of the labor offer increases execution risk for Boeing ahead of the contract expiry on October 6. Meanwhile, United's updated schedule indicates that the airline is now projecting to receive 20 MAX 10 aircraft in 2027, contrary to initial expectations. The airline had previously stated that initial deliveries could be delayed until 2027 or 2028.
Boeing has completed scheduled flight testing for the MAX 10, but two certification processes remain unfinished. The company's share price has already adjusted for certain execution risks, with Boeing ending Friday trading at $214.20, representing a 7.54% drop since August 14. With a market capitalization of $169.30 billion as of Friday, the decrease wiped out approximately $13.8 billion in value.
