Boeing's Record Backlog Masks Its Bigger Problem: Delivering on Promises

Boeing's latest financials reveal an industry paradox. The company has a record backlog of $715 billion in outstanding orders, including over 6,200 commercial aircraft.

This doesn't sound encouraging, but Boeing's central problem isn't selling more planes; it's building the ones they've already promised.

India is a prime example. Boeing forecasts that airlines there will need nearly 3,300 new aircraft by 2044, driven by growing passenger traffic and commercial fleets.

The region's growth is fueled by rising incomes, airport investment, and a shift from rail to air travel in Asia.

Large aircraft orders are commitments to routes yet to open and passengers flying for the first time.
