Bojangles Contestants Headed to Disney World Finals
Bojangles biscuit-makers gathered at the company's support center in Charlotte to compete for the top six spots in their annual contest. The event, which has been running for over two decades, tests biscuit-making skills by having competitors make 47 scratch-baked biscuits within a certain time frame.
The semi-finals saw 16 contestants from across the state vie for the coveted spots, with three winners coming from company-operated locations and three from franchised locations. Judges evaluated not only the speed of completion but also the final product's appearance, looking for biscuits that met exact shape and size specs as well as having a golden-brown, buttered, flaky top and pillowy center.
The six winners will travel to Orlando in September to compete in the contest finals at Walt Disney World. Local contestant Edith Chavez, a Bojangles biscuit-maker from Yadkinville, secured one of the spots, advancing to the highly anticipated event.
