Bond Market Sell-Off Intensifies, Stocks Decline on Wall Street
The global bond market sell-off intensified this week, causing stocks to decline on Wall Street. Despite steady oil prices and rising bond yields, investors remain cautious about the economic outlook.
On Wednesday, the S&P 500 index rose 0.6%, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average increasing by 421 points, or 0.8%, as of 10:52 a.m. Eastern time. The Nasdaq composite rose 0.3%. Banks had some of the strongest gains, with JPMorgan Chase rising 1.7% and Bank of America increasing by 2.4%.
Dell Technologies also saw significant growth, rising 3.7%, following a positive financial update. However, energy stocks were mixed, with Chevron edging 0.4% higher after confirming its plans to expand operations in Venezuela.
