Botetourt County Approves Google Data Center Project Despite Opposition
The Google data center project in Botetourt County has received approval to begin phased grading work after satisfying land disturbance permit requirements.
However, the Southwest Virginia Data Center Transparency Alliance (SWVA DCTA), a primary citizen-opposition group, condemned the county's announcement, arguing that Google had not met all necessary permits and processes.
The project involves a 312-acre campus, and fencing and 'No Trespassing' signs have already been installed at the site.
