Boy Throb's Visa Woes End as Darshan Magdum Secures US Tour Spot
Indian musician Darshan Magdum has finally secured a US visa after months of uncertainty. The O-1 visa, meant for individuals with extraordinary ability or achievement, was initially denied due to lack of evidence that his band, Boy Throb, was a legitimate music group.
The visa process began in December 2025, when Magdum applied to travel to the US to perform with the newly formed band. However, US immigration officials returned his application, requesting additional evidence from the band to prove its legitimacy.
Despite missing several concerts due to the visa delay, Boy Throb continued to tour, with Magdum joining via Zoom and audiences chanting in support of his visa. The band's online presence even gained attention on Reddit, where users debated whether Boy Throb was a real band and whether Magdum was a genuine person.
The O-1 visa is typically issued to individuals who can demonstrate distinction in fields such as the arts, sciences, education, business, athletics, or the motion picture and television industry. Immigration lawyer Jonathan Grode noted that this case stood out because the band let fame come before recognition of their ability.
