BQP Scores IBM Backing for Quantum-Inspired Computing
IBM Ventures has made an investment in BQP to expand its quantum-inspired software for enterprise engineering and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads. The company's BQPhy platform uses existing GPU and HPC infrastructure to accelerate engineering simulations and optimization workloads.
The $8 million funding round brings IBM Ventures' total investment to undisclosed amount, with existing investors Venn10 Capital and Monta Vista Capital also participating. Emily Fontaine, Global Head of IBM Ventures, stated that users don't have to change how they work to get quantum-accelerated results with BQPhy.
BQP's BQPhy solver is designed for optimization and simulation scenarios in industries like aerospace, transportation, and defense. The company claims its software can deliver results up to 10 times faster on current HPC infrastructure.
