BQP Secures $8 Million to Accelerate Physics Simulation with IBM Quantum Support
IBM Ventures has led an $8 million investment in BQP (formerly BosonQ Psi), a company that specializes in enterprise software for physics simulation. This funding brings BQP's total to $8 million, supporting the commercial deployment of its flagship platform, BQPhy.
BQPhy acts as a software acceleration layer that optimizes underutilized GPU compute capacity, delivering performance up to 10× faster inside native engineering environments like MATLAB, Python, and Julia. This addresses a fundamental bottleneck in high-performance computing (HPC), where traditional physics solvers often leave up to 85% of modern GPU floating-point capacity idle.
Under a staged roadmap, BQP's QuantumMAX native solver architecture will be configured to transition these classical workloads seamlessly onto hybrid quantum-classical QPUs. The company has achieved an 8× expansion in contracted revenue driven by deployments across aerospace, defense, energy, and advanced manufacturing.
