Brazilian Family Discovers Venomous Caterpillars in Backyard Mango Tree
A family in São Paulo, Brazil, discovered an unexpected and potentially hazardous inhabitant of their backyard mango tree - venomous 'fire caterpillars.'
The discovery was made after the family's user posted on Reddit, sharing a photo of the cluster of insects gathered together in webbing.
According to the post, the caterpillars were estimated to be about 1.6 to 2.8 inches long and were identified as venomous fire caterpillars, which are also known as stinging caterpillars.
The user noted that touching them can cause painful skin irritation and allergic reactions, making them an unwelcome backyard guest.
