Britson Drives Amgen Rhode Island Expansion and Sustainability
Brian Britson, vice president of operations at Amgen Rhode Island, has led the West Greenwich facility to achieve significant milestones in expansion and sustainability since joining in August 2020.
Under his leadership, the biomanufacturing plant has strengthened its manufacturing capacity by a record 150% increase in production capacity since 2018, driven by internal process improvements rather than new construction. This achievement has allowed the 75-acre campus to expand its output of biologics while maintaining a workforce of approximately 900 focused and cross-trained across operations.
Britson also pushed the facility towards Amgen's Road to Zero sustainability targets, advancing projects aimed at achieving carbon neutrality, reducing water consumption, and minimizing operational waste. The results have earned consistent recognition from Providence Business News, naming it one of Rhode Island's best places to work each year during his tenure.
