Broadcom Crushes Expectations with Impressive Earnings Report
Broadcom's latest earnings report has left investors underwhelmed, but upon closer inspection, the numbers are hardly disappointing. In fact, they're impressive.
The company's revenue surged 86% year over year to $29.59 billion, with adjusted earnings per share exploding 96% to $3.32. Both metrics comfortably exceeded Wall Street's expectations of $29.25 billion in sales and $3.21 in earnings per share.
The impressive performance was largely driven by the insatiable demand from hyperscalers for custom AI chips and networking gear. Broadcom's quarterly AI semiconductor revenue, in particular, more than tripled to $16.7 billion.
Broadcom CEO Hock Tan offered some encouraging words during the earnings call, predicting that the company will ship a staggering $350 billion worth of AI semiconductors to its key hyperscaler customers over the next two years. He also noted that the firm's AI networking revenue is expected to grow at a pace comparable to XPUs.
JPMorgan analyst Harlan Sur was among those who reacted positively to Broadcom's earnings report, lifting his earnings estimates for the company and maintaining an Overweight rating on the stock.
