Brockovich Takes Aim at Big Tech Over AI Data Centers
Erin Brockovich, the environmental activist whose fight against Pacific Gas & Electric Company led to a landmark $333 million settlement in 1996, is once again taking on corporate giants. This time, she's targeting Meta and Google over their rapid expansion of artificial intelligence data centers across the United States.
Brockovich has launched Brockovich Data Center Reporting, an interactive citizen-reporting platform designed to gather information about these massive facilities. She's raising concerns about the secrecy surrounding land acquisition, energy demands, water usage, noise pollution, and electronic waste generation.
As a single mother of three with no college degree, Brockovich was dismissed as 'the environmentalist with cleavage' by some who underestimated her determination to hold corporate powers accountable. However, she proved them wrong in 1996 when she won the lawsuit against PG&E.
